Take back your old love letters

Message  Mummenhoff Marc le Sam 8 Oct - 9:39

Take back your old love letters is an old song from Ray Price
I tried to play it in Buddy Emmons style
It's not perfect because of the mistakes
And yes it's E9

Mistakes are part of live playing, Marc!!
Very good nebertheless.

As a matter of fact have noticed that once you've pushed on the record button, your playing is more contracted ?

Recording buttom - same level of playin' always?

Message  Mummenhoff Marc le Dim 9 Oct - 8:14

Hi Fred,
Thx for the nice comment.
I don't know what you exactly mean by contracted, but:
It's a fact once the recording buttom is pushed i always get nervous in my playin'
I can do a song over and over with no problems or nerves, but when a recorder is envalved i'll get stress LOL
That brings another discussion:
Do you guys always get the same level of playing no matter what?
Me not - sometimes i'll play very good with no faults and sometimes i'll really got an "off day".
It's also with gigs - i am more like a 'diesel' - The first songs are not so good, only after the 5th song or so i am getting at my level of playing. (the time needed to get relaxed?)
Keep on steelin'

That's exactly my point Marc.

Record button means getting nervous.
I also have some " no way" days. I just shut off the amp and go somewhere else.
Concerning gigs it's a fact that if you can open the set with 4 or 5 easy tunes it's easier to put you in confidence.

It's worth a new topic!!

Exactly same feelings as you and Fred, Marc.

It was the question to Doug Jernigan (seen in old steelguitar Mag) who answer to "
how could you be so quiet and able to keep clear and speed playin' when you see in front of you (St Louis 's room), about 2000 players (among them Buddy, Lloyd, ...most of the best players in the world)?

Doug answered : "I build my own shell (bulle, enveloppe, coquille) and I play just for me.. "

plus facile à lire qu'à réaliser.... pour nous... Suspect

amitiés
bernard
